Whois Privacy Protection, at times also called WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that hides the authentic contact info of domain name owners on WHOIS lookup sites. Without such protection, the personal name, home address and email account of any domain owner will be openly available. Supplying fake information during the registration procedure or altering the genuine info later will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain name registrant losing his/her ownership rights. The policies approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, require that the WHOIS info must be valid and accurate all the time. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by registrar companies as a response to the rising concerns for potential identity theft. If the protection service is activated, the registrar company’s contact info will be shown instead of the client’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, even though there are certain country-code extensions that don’t.
Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting
If you’ve ordered a cloud hosting from us and you have registered one or more domains under your account, you will be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of them with ease and to keep your private data intact. Of course, this can be done only with the extensions that support this service. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” sign to the right of each of your domains. Its color will let you know whether a domain name is Whois Privacy Protected or not and in the second case, you can add Whois Privacy Protection with only several mouse clicks. Thus, you can protect your personal information even if you haven’t activated the Whois Privacy Protection service during the hosting account order process. You will be able to renew or to disable the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domains just as easily.
Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you register a domain name under it, you can enable our Whois Privacy Protection service without effort. This requires just several mouse clicks in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you manage everything associated with your semi-dedicated account. This is the place where you can see all your active domains and for each one of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” button, using which you can order, renew or remove the service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-specific TLD extensions that support this option and you’ll be able to see this in advance, so that you will not end up requesting a service that we cannot provide.
